Immediately after Battlefield 3's release back in 2011, one of the most common fixes many players went for was the much-needed "Crack fix". This fix would enable Windows to return the game files to normal; however, it quickly became apparent that this did not remove Battlefield 3's DRM. It would be another two years before EA made an official patch that removed these restrictions. Unfortunately, this isn't where all of our stories end. Our story started this year, in March 2016. A community member by the name of "MrGravy" came into our forums to show us his findings after much research. He had discovered that EA held onto the game files for Battlefield 3 much longer than expected. MrGravy realized that Battlefield 3's files ended up on a server, but strangely they were not downloaded by anyone. It wasn't until October 23, 2016 when EA finally realized their mistake and took down the server after receiving numerous complaints from players. There are still many people around the world who are not playing Battlefield 3 due to this unfortunate mistake, which can be seen here . The main purpose of this article is to help the community get back into Battlefield 3 by providing all of the necessary files so you can play this game once more. It seems that there is some confusion on how to install Battlefield 3 with these files. The correct way is for you to use the original game installer that you received when buying the game, then run this All-in-one Fix by clicking Run, then pointing it towards your Battlefield 3 folder. This will fix everything that needs to be fixed in order for you to play the game again. Some people have had trouble installing due to their anti-virus blocking it; however, below are two methods on how you can make it work without any problems. This fix is a little more complicated, as you will need to install an application that will allow you to install the game files. The application that you will need is called "Rename". Once downloaded, open it and select the Battlefield 3 shortcut from your desktop, then right-click one of the files within your Battlefield 3 folder. Now click Rename and change the file's name from "battlefield3" to "bf3", as shown here . You can now either close out of the program or use it to copy these files over your Battlefield 3 directory. If you have any problems installing this application it may be due to a possibly faulty installation on your part. If you do not want to go through this process, then you can simply download the registry fix linked below. This fix will also work on any other game that uses Denuvo, as I have confirmed this with a friend who tested it out. Once you have applied the registry fix, just install the original game installer and it should work just fine. I have also provided a text file that includes both of these fixes for PC and MAC users. You will need to enable 'run as administrator' to apply either of these fixes. PC Registry Fix: http://denuvo-playerunknowns-battlegrounds.com/index.
